What is PyLadies?

Cleveland PyLadies is a local chapter of PyLadies. We are an open and inclusive Python user group explicitly focused on engaging women and underrepresented populations in tech, specifically in and around Northeast Ohio. We are a local chapter of the global Pyladies organization.

Code of Conduct

While we are in the process of drafting and approving a formal code of conduct for our chapter, please review the following agreement before attending one of our events:

As a local chapter of the global PyLadies oganization, we adhere to the general guidelines set forth by PyLadies.

"Pyladies is dedicated to providing a respectful, harassment-free community for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment or bullying of any community member in any form. This does not only extend to members to local PyLadies communities, but to anyone who chooses to become involved in the larger PyLadies community of users, developers and integrators through events or interactions.

"Harassment includes offensive verbal/electronic comments related to personal characteristics or choices, sexual images or comments in public or online spaces, deliberate intimidation, bullying, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks, IRC chats, electronic meetings, physical meetings or other events, inappropriate physical contact, or unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing or bullying behavior are expected to comply immediately.

"If a participant engages in harassing behavior, representatives of the community may take reasonable action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender, expulsion from any PyLadies event, or expulsion from mailing lists, IRC chats, discussion boards and other electronic communications channels to resolve the issue. This may include expulsion from PyLadies Meetup group membership.

"If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please act to intercede or ask for help from any member of the PyLadies community, IRC chat admins, website admins, or organizers/representatives of any physical events put on under the auspices of PyLadies.

"This Code of Conduct has been adapted from the Plone Foundation and is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license"

Socials

We currently have 3 active organizers that can be reached directly (cle at pyladies dot com) for questions. We are on Twitter, Facebook, & Instagram as CLEPyLadies. We also love to promote local bloggers on our Medium publication. Check out our upcoming events on Meetup!

We have channels on two Slack workspaces: PyLadies global (as #Cleveland) and the Cleveland Tech (as #CLE-PyLadies). The local slack also has a #CLEpy channel for the general Cleveland Python User Group.

Speak at our meetup

We have a papercall.io event page for submitting talk proposals. You can also reach out to us on Slack or by email if you would like to have a conversation about the topic you have in mind. We aim to stream at least 30 minutes of each meetup on our YouTube channel to facilitate remote participation by the mothers and working women in our community, but can work around any speaker privacy concerns.
